When it comes to fall decorations, pumpkins rule. Whether you’re creating an elegant tablescape, lining your front walk or outfitting your patio with a dose of fun – pumpkins are the easy go-to that never disappoint.
Think we’re just talking about jack-o’-lanterns? They’re fun to be sure. But, there’s a lot more to pumpkin décor than a carved face and roasted seeds. The following are some of our favorite ways to utilize pumpkins when you want to spruce up your outdoor space.
Go Light and Bright
Orange can get a little dreary over time. So skip it! Go with pumpkins instead. They offer a light and bright alternative perfect for celebrating not just Halloween, but Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Try arranging a collection of white pumpkins in varying sizes in a large planter or wood box. During Halloween, you can nest a few fake spiders throughout the display. When it’s time to transition to Thanksgiving, swap the spiders for brightly colored leaves or small gourds. And Christmas? Replace the fall-accents with weather resistant ornaments. It’s that simple!
Use your pumpkins to share a happy and welcoming message. With a simple stencil, you can easily paint a fun message on the face of your pumpkin or pumpkins. Spray paint works well. Just make sure to use a drop cloth for any painting project.
Really want to mix things up? Make this year’s pumpkin display blue. Not nearly as common as orange (or white) pumpkins, blue pumpkins are a sure conversation starter.
Vary the Size
One size fits all might work for stretchy socks. But, when it comes to decorating your home, variety is the spice of life. Don’t just pick up pumpkins that are all the same size. Get a variety of sizes. This adds more intrigue to your display.
